Mother’s Day

The commandment that Christ leaves us today in the Gospel is to love one another as He has loved us. He loves us! Of this we can never doubt. This we have to be certain of no matter what happens, not only in the good times, but also in the challenging times.  To know ourselves loved gives us confidence and joy. It is something special when we are told we are loved. This is what God wants us to feel when we see him on the cross. He has given us the model to love, going far beyond what is expected willing to give up everything for the one we love. Christ has done it, and today this example is continued in so many mom’s throughout the world. We celebrate our moms above all because they have loved as Christ has loved. How many times they have gone far beyond what is expected out of love for their children. Lastly we have Mary who is our heavenly mom, who loves us very much too. Her love for me has been one that challenges and one that motivates, but above all her love is shown in her motherly care for me holding  me close to Jesus. May Mary be the model for all moms!

Happy Mother’s Day!
