The poor widow in the gospel today has always been a great example for me. She is poor and didn’t have a lot to offer God, but in her weakness she offered all she had. God didn’t pay attention to how much she gave, but that she gave with her whole heart. She didn’t measure and neither did God. It was about love. She offered what she had because she loved God and God saw that. When there is true love, we don’t worry about the quantity of what is given but rather look to offer what we can for the beloved. Christ above all sets that example for us. He didn’t measure what He gave up for us, but rather just gave it all so that we could live with Him forever. We shouldn’t worry about how much we have to offer God, but rather realize we are poor and in our poverty and weakness offer what we can to God, because we love Him.
